Leisure Boat Skipper Course (PER)
The PER is the most popular nautical title. It does not require a license or prior qualification. To obtain it, you must pass a theoretical exam and complete an internship at a recognized nautical school.
It is the most suitable qualification to be able to carry out all kinds of coastal crossings.
The title skipper of recreational boats is relatively easy to obtain. In about two months, it is possible to prepare the curriculum and perform the necessary exercises. The curriculum is not difficult, but you must devote some time to it. As for the practices, you only need to participate to pass them.
Requirements
- Be over 18 years at the time of the theoretical exam
- Pass a psychotechnical exam at an authorized center
- Pass the appropriate theoretical exam
- Perform the basic practices of safety and navigation
- Conduct the workshop for short-range radio operators

To sail between the peninsula and the Balearic Islands and in boats up to 24 m long.
Internship
- Basic security and navigation practices
Mandatory 16 hours. They consist of 4.4-hour missions, which are usually carried out in two days. - Short-range radio operator course
Mandatory 12 hours. The short-range radio operator course consists of 12 hours, 4 hours of theoretical training and 8 hours of practical training in an approved simulator. This course may only be taken once as it is valid for higher degrees. - Sailing Habilitation Practice
Optional 16 hours. The habilitation practice consists of 4 descents of 4 hours each. This allows you to steer sailboats. It serves for the titles PNB, PER, Yacht Skipper and Yacht Captain, if you complete it for one title, it will be worth it for the others.
- Practices for the extension of powers
Optional 24 hours. These practices consist of a 24-hour journey without touching the port. This allows the extension of the PER title and thus you can navigate boats of up to 24 meters, as well as make crossings between the peninsula and the Balearic Islands. - Practices to extend the powers of PER + Sailing
Optional 48 hours. The practices consistof a journey of 48 hours without touching the port. This is an alternative for carrying out the practice to extend the powers of PER and the authorization to squire. Both training programs are combined in a single longer trip to earn both certifications.
